Can I drink Loose Leaf Decaf Every Day?

Can I drink Loose Leaf Decaf Every Day?

We love tea, we know you love tea too. We also know that your caffeine intake is something that you should be conscious of.

The recommended daily caffeine intake for an average adult is 400mg, say you love drinking black loose leaf tea, this works out at roughly 5 cups in a day. I don’t know about you but 5 cups of tea in a single day, just, will not cut it.

So, what’s the answer? The most obvious choice is to move to decaf once you’ve had the caffeine hit from your morning brew or if you have reached your daily recommended limit for caffeine.

Decaf is a great option, but can you drink it every day?

We have another article where we go into detail on the positives and negatives of decaf loose leaf tea.

We strongly suggest that before you buy any decaf tea you give it a read, we think you should be fully aware of the processes involved in decaffeination before you decide to drink it.

Decaf is great, you can essentially drink as much of it as you like, as long as you are fully aware of the potential issues with some decaf that is available on the market.

Don’t worry though, there is an even better option, and it is delicious. You can get many herbal teas that are completely caffeine free. We stock a wide selection of them in our store, and they are all amazing.

Not to mention, most herbal teas have wonderful side effects. Take chamomile tea as an example, it is great just before bed. It helps with sleep and can be a wonderfully calming drink when you are feeling stressed.

It is also great for the skin, aids in digestion, and can boost your immune system. All this and it’s completely caffeine free so you can have as much as you like.

Ok, let's say you don’t want to drink chamomile as your all day drink, we get that. It is far too indulgent to have it all day, every day. There are plenty of other options, and all of them taste great. You can find our selection here.

Our advice

In short, yes you can drink decaf tea everyday. There is however a “but” -

We are strong believers in consuming everything in moderation and we think this is also the best way to enjoy tea too.

We think the best way to get the most out of your loose leaf tea journey is to get your fix of caffeinated tea first thing in the morning, when you need it the most. Then throughout the day find your preferred caffeine free tea, we tend to lean to Rooibos throughout the day.

We tend to mix in a mug or two of loose leaf decaf just to get that tea flavour fix! Then go for something calming late into the afternoon like chamomile or peppermint
